"Chief designer at Submerge, Rodney Nairne has waited 3 years to build a compact, NiMH powered ocean diving scooter. Submerge was the first to produce a NiMH scooter in the USA, with the introduction of the UV-18-NiMH with 40 "F" cells, and Gilbeto Menenez has explored a 20,000+ foot long cave in Brazil with a Submerge NiMH UV scooter.

The delay has been the production of a higher capacity NiMH cell. Rodney wanted a simple, 20 cell pack which had a capacity greater than the lead acid packs in the UV-18. He wanted a light weight NiMH powered scooter, but with at least a solid, dependable 60 minute duration.

2006 finally saw the introduction of the "2D" NiMH cell with a nominal capacity of 19 A/h compared to the "F" cell with only 13 A/h. Now it was possible to meet several goals:

-Under 50 pounds
-Over 100 minutes runtime (minimum 60 minutes)
-Simple, single 20 cell pack.

The new model N-19 SALTWATER is instantly recognizable as a Submerge... using many standard Submerge components such as the driveline/motor, pioneering single handle operation and construction from the formidable UV range of scooters.

Why change a winner!"
